Bleu Nordique was born on the picturesque coast of the Lower North Shore of Quebec, Canada in a little village called St Paul’s River. This isolated area of the world is still untouched by industrialists and because of that the lands and waters surrounding this majestic coast line offer some of the most pristine conditions for plants from the sea and land to grow and flourish.

Our roots are entrenched in the land and sea and the traditional ecological knowledge from our people has been passed down from generations. This knowledge teaches us to live in balance where respect for the land we walk on, the ocean and rivers that provide for us are treated with a knowledge that we are just visitors and our goal is to leave this world in a better condition than when we arrived.

Like many northern regions the Lower North Shore went through a colonisation period when people came to the region telling the local people what they were eating and the way they were doing things was wrong. They came in ships with apples, oranges and southern medicines to teach what they thought was a better way.

Today we can proudly say that in many cases they were wrong and our people were right!  

Through bringing our youth and elders together we have back mapped our traditional knowledge of plants. Through science we have proven that our harsh territory produces some of the most nutrient rich plants in the world. With some berries you can eat one and get as much vitamin c as a full orange. 

To many that are joining the Bleu Nordique family you may ask why have we never heard of these plants before? It is quite a simple answer that the northern belt of Canada’s territory is not widely explored as it was deemed too cold and its soils no good to develop. However, as northerners know there is actually a bounty of around 2000 plants on the land alone that blanket the tundra producing beautiful roots, flowers and berries. So instead we pass the message to maybe stop trying to change what was provided to us and instead learn to appreciate the natural rhythm of Mother Nature and work with her and not against a tide that flows the way it should.

So you may be asking what is different about our vision at Bleu Nordique. Well we want to not only share our bountiful harvest with you from the land and sea but help you on your journey that celebrates a life in balance. To us this means a life entrenched in the values of wellness not just for us as individuals but the communities we live in and the beautiful planet we get to share.
